“Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors.” Isaiah 53:12

Pam and I walked into a church one time and the greeter said, “Well it’s obvious you are not from around here.” I was an overseer in that denomination, and I was hoping that kind of thing was never said to a first-time guest.

Ever imagine if someone knew who Jesus truly was, and was meeting Him on the night He was betrayed? The King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The Creator of the Universe and all who dwell in it. The beloved Son of God. No, He did not belong here in a dark hole in the ground. He did not belong on a whipping post, or a cross. He belonged where angels bow in reverence, and the glory of God blinded and overwhelmed the most saintly of the saints. Yet He chose to take His place among transgressors and pour out His life on our behalf. That is why God the Father chose something for Him as well. Paul describes it in his letter to the Philippians: “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11

Imagine the adjustments the Lord made to walk among us!

Lord, help me to experience Your power and grace to make all the adjustments necessary to join You in Your work, through Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
